Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune)

In this document, we will review the process to add the Augmentt Discovery Agent to Microsoft Intune via both the Line-Of-Business and Win32 app process. Please note that adding both LOB and Win32 applications to your Intune environment may cause Autopilot deployments to fail. If you already have existing apps deployed via Intune, it is best to maintain the same deployment type. If you do not already have apps deployed and are unsure of which one to pick, Win32 is recommended due to its enhanced configuration profiles and logging options.

Prerequisites

To deploy the Augmentt Discovery Agent, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • Ensure Intune is properly configured for your organization
  • Ensure devices are properly assigned to users, and each user has a license to use Intune
  • Ensure proper Intune security groups are created to assign the app to users and devices
  • You must have an active Augmentt account, download the discovery agent msi, and have a valid license key

Installing via Line-Of-Business (LOB) app

  1. Download the Discovery agent from the Augmentt portal. This is located in the left menu bar under Configuration, Files, and Discovery Agent

  1. Open the Microsoft Endpoint Manager and Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar, then Windows under “By Platform”

  4. In the place of <extensionkey>, paste the license key from the Discovery Agent download page in the Augmentt portal. Do not add any other arguments such as /i, /qn, /quiet, or any quotes and parenthesis around the wrapped arguments. Intune will automatically assume these arguments and adding them will cause deployment to fail
  5. You may fill the remaining fields if you like, however no additional information is required to deploy the app

Installing via Win32 App

To install the app as a Win32 application, you must first prepare the MSI as an .intunewin file

  1. Download the Microsoft Win32 Content Prep Tool. This can be found at https://github.com/Microsoft/Microsoft-Win32-Content-Prep-Tool

  3. Open a command prompt in this directory. Enter the following command: IntuneWinAppUtil.exe -c App -s DiscoveryAgentSetup.msi -o Output
